Ode to Peas

Our first attempt to get Boopee to eat peas...This was before I had started making her baby food...was VERY unsuccessful... She was quite displeased...and made it very obvious...However.. I couldn't blame her... when I opened the container...the stench..well...to be honest...smelled more like something that had already been through her digestive system...if you know what I mean...It was a quite offensive smell and overall...putrid and repugnant. Yuck. Still I really want her to have a good variety in her diet and so I tried to think of sneaky ways to get her to eat her peas...so I thought...perhaps mixing them with something familiar that she liked...would do the trick...so I was inspired to create this recipe:

Ode To Peas

Ingredients:
1 Cup of Sweet Peas (Frozen)
1-2 Medium to Large Sweet Potatoes ( Baked)
1 (4oz) bottle of Gerber Apple-Prune Baby Juice

What We Did:
      1.  Baked Sweet Potatoes ( wrapped in foil ) at 400 degrees for about 45- 60 minutes
      2. While  Sweet Potatoes were baking...we steamed the sweet peas on the stove... ( we have a Royal Prestige Senior Steamer. I have also heard of folks steaming veggies in rice cookers...or in the Microwave..although I have read that you lose some of the nutrients so we are tying our best to do things on the stove or in the oven as much as possible. )
     3. When Potatoes were done...cut in half and scoop out the yummy stuff.
     4. Slap the Potatoes and Peas in the Food Processor
     5. Press the Button. YAY.
     6. Add Apple-Prune Juice and blend until mixed
     7. Spoon in to freezer trays.
     8. Cover and Freeze.
     9. After Freezing...Dump into labeled freezer bag..or thaw and serve...

How long it took:
With baking and Steaming included ...About an 1 hour and 15 minutes
Actual time spent in kitchen working..about 15-20 minutes.

Level of Difficulty...Super Duper Easy!

How Much it Made: Approx. 2 trays of 1 oz. cubes
Boopee's Level Approval: On a Scale of 1-5
I think she would probably give it a 3.5 simply because she still isn't crazy about peas.

Things I will do different next time... ADD MORE Sweet potatoes.
